Our Products are Essential to American Infrastructure

Florida’s Economy

Florida’s economy is growing at a record pace, and the Miami-Dade Limestone Products Association is paving the way for continued growth to ensure our region remains successful. Essential during the pandemic, the aggregate we produce is even more essential now as the state and nation look to maintain and rebuild critical infrastructure, grow the economy and create good-paying jobs in our community. Our members are uniquely positioned to support these goals, and our products have been critical to supporting a statewide economic renaissance that has recovered nearly one million jobs over the past year and become the 15th largest economy in the world.

Of course, investment in critical infrastructure requires an essential resource found here in Miami-Dade’s Lake Belt region: limestone.

Essential Infrastructure

In South Florida, abundant natural deposits of limestone exist that can be used locally to build and maintain roads, bridges and other major projects such as home and school construction.

Florida is home to more than 12,500 bridges and more than 250,000 miles of road which rely on the concrete product our members produce. In South Florida alone, we have more than 1,400 bridges and more than 5,500 miles of public roads, which require regular maintenance and improvements. These infrastructure pieces depend on the limestone industry and are essential to Miami-Dade’s continued prosperity.

There is plenty of work ahead to meet the demands of this recovery, and M-DLPA’s members are prepared to rise to the challenge. The resources to repair, maintain and upgrade South Florida’s infrastructure and support the economy are at hand and will ensure our neighbors and our economy are successful and positioned to support a long-term economic recovery.
