Florida ranks as the 6th largest state in consumption and production of aggregate products. Out of the 139 million tons of aggregate used in Florida per year, 60 million of those tons are produced in Miami-Dade. Moreover, Miami-Dade is responsible for over 50% of the aggregate utilized in the Florida Department of Transportation’s infrastructure projects.
As a result, the Miami-Dade Limestone Products Industry is responsible for over 14,000 jobs producing a $544 million payroll in Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.
In the Lake Belt region alone, the industry pays more than $50 million in local sales tax per year and nearly $10 million in local property taxes per year.
