A Message from Miami-Dade Limestone Products Association (M-DLPA) on COVID-19

Released: 4/1/20

The health and wellbeing of our employees comes first.  As a heavily regulated industry, we already adhere to extensive health and safety standards—and we also realize that COVID-19 presents unique challenges.  As a result, our industry has implemented enhanced health protocols and applied new “Best Practices,” in keeping with CDC guidelines.  These include:

  • Social distancing and heightened sanitation procedures.
  • Limiting facility access to essential personnel.
  • Enabling employees to work remotely, when possible.
  • Suspending non-critical business travel.

Furthermore, we have implemented a wide range of health and safety procedures recommended by the construction industry’s comprehensive “Pledge for a Safer Workplace.”

Our industry is among the “critical infrastructure sectors,” as determined by the Department of Homeland Security, meaning that we supply a critical resource and have a special responsibility to maintain our operations.  We continue to coordinate with relevant authorities and monitor local, state, federal and global health channels to ensure the best possible practices are in in place.

Our industry supports thousands of jobs in South Florida and we are grateful to the extraordinary people who make our essential work possible.
