Limestone, Making Our Modern Lives Possible
September 15, 2017Through the end of 2004, the members of the Miami-Dade Limestone Products Association have contributed nearly $13 million for the acquisition, restoration, and long-term management of the Pennsuco wetlands west of the Lake Belt. These mitigation funds have paid for the acquisition/restoration of 616 acres and the restoration of an additional 3375 acres in the Pennsuco, as well as long-term management costs. The above photo shows the progress made by the South Florida Water Management District in restoring the Pennsuco wetlands through the elimination of melaleuca infestation.
