Similar rock exists in very few places. This region happens to be one of them.

Extracting limestone requires breaking large rock formations into smaller, usable material. Today that process relies on precisely engineered, controlled techniques that are carefully calibrated to loosen rock efficiently while minimizing impact on surrounding areas. Modern methods of loosening rock are a very technical discipline with decades of science behind it, and every event is planned, measured and monitored.
That precision also happens to be the most energy-efficient approach available. Loosening rock with highly-calibrated blasting techniques requires significantly less energy per ton of material produced than purely mechanical alternatives. It also keeps production costs from climbing in ways that would eventually be felt by taxpayers, homeowners and anyone who drives on a Florida road. When it costs less to produce the material responsibly, the infrastructure built from it stays more affordable for everyone.
